Base is an own OpenOffice suite database application, which is an analog to Microsoft Access. Base lets you manipulate databases seamlessly, you can create and modify tables, forms, queries and reports. OpenOffice Base tool is great for daily routine tasks such as tracking of personal CD collections and at the same time it works well for producing a corporate monthly departmental sales reports.
OpenOffice Base is not only good as a personal use all-you-need database, in parallel offers the full HSQL relational database engine. Base could function as a front-end to a number of different database systems, including Access databases (JET), ODBC data sources, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
